Chisholme House
Chisholme House has been the permanent home of the Beshara School for over 30 years.
It is set in the Scottish Borders in the UK, and comprises an estate of nearly 200 acres, which include a walled garden, a lake, pasture and woodland. It is just over an hour’s drive away from both Carlisle and Edinburgh; the nearest town is Hawick (8m).
Chisholme is a place of great natural beauty. It is an ideal setting for an education geared towards the essential beauty of existence. It is a peaceful place, undisturbed by the pressures of city life, and free of pollution.
A place where the night sky can be seen in all its glory.
It is open to visitors at all times, and also attracts many volunteers who come for longer or shorter periods to work and learn at the School. Courses are held at Chisholme throughout the year, from introductory weekends to the six-month intensive course, which runs every year from October to March.
The education offered by the School permeates every aspect of Chisholme, from the study rooms to the forestry, from the garden to the kitchen. Whether staff member, course student or visitor, all are students of the School. The overall aim is that integrated vision which reveals the underlying unity of existence. All who participate at Chisholme are in service to this unitive vision.
